Gas Reciprocating Power Plant has been built (hereinafter – GRPP) with a capacity of 38.9 MW under project “Aktobe Rail and Section Works with design capacity of 430 thousand tons of rolled products per year” in order to supply electrical power to rail and section mill and to reduce the costs for production of rolled products. GRPP of Aktobe Rail and Section Works was put into operation by Certificate issued by State Acceptance Commission on July 30, 2015 with regard to placing of the built object into operation.
Permanent operation of started in August 06, 2015 when approval from KEGOC LLC was received.
The main product generated by Gas Reciprocating Power Plant is electrical power.
Gas Reciprocating Power Plant can work with the existing electric power system and/or in isolated operation.
Quality of generated electrical power is provided by:
- possibility to regulate active powers of generating set by means of increasing and decreasing fuel supply into gas reciprocating engine when working in network. Power regulation range of gas piston generators is from 10 up to 100%;
- possibility to include of reserve auxiliary equipment instead of broken down in order to minimize economic losses from reduced generation of electricity;
- automatic shutdown of equipment during equipment runaway and Gas Reciprocating Power Plant systems up to protective set points.
Electrical power is generated by four gas piston generators of Wärtsilä 20V34SG type with electrical power of 9730 kW each. These fixed gas piston generators are designed, manufactured and delivered by Wartsila Finland Oy and include the following elements:
- gas reciprocating engine Wärtsilä 20V34SG;
- generator set;
- auxiliary systems and equipment;
- automatic control system.
Equipment is designed in such way in order to prevent accidental contacts of personnel with moving, hot or vibrating parts and minimize reaching of dirt and dust into environment.
Automatic Control System and control of gas reciprocating power plant provides safe, reliable, effective and comfortable control of generator set and their auxiliary mechanical and electrical systems.
